Send A Creative Thank You in Minutes

Don’t even think about it. You’ll never hear us tell you it’s ok to send an e-mail thank you note to someone who has given you a wedding gift. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a quick and easy way to send out thank you notes.

We found an internet service called AmazingMail where you can create postcards online and within one day, your post card is printed and mailed to your designated address. Simply choose the size postcard you wish to create - 4×6 or 6×9, upload your own picture (we love the idea of couples asking their wedding photographer to get a picture with a big thank you note) or choose from their stock photography, type your message, enter your address, pay and send! You can send out one or hundreds or thousands at the same time if you wish. Couples are not only using the online service for thank you notes but for save-the-date cards, engagement party and shower invitations. The cost ranges from $1.20 to $1.80 per card plus postage.

Not quite sure what to say in your Thank You note? Now you can actually hire someone to write it for you. That’s Gratitude is a company located in Baltimore that specializes in personalized, handwritten thank you notes. You provide them with the stationary, information about the gift you received and they will write the thank you note, hand address the envelope, stuff it and return it to you. All you do is seal the cards, drop them in the mail and take credit for the prompt gift acknowledgement.

Party Supplies for Fiesta Themed Events

When you get engaged, suddenly you’ll have lots of parties to plan. There’s the engagement party, bridesmaid luncheon, bridal shower (yes, some brides participate in the planning), bachelor party, rehearsal dinner, wedding, and after-wedding party. You may even have a few more gatherings if you’re planning a wedding weekend to take advantage of the fact that your family and friends will all be together with you.

If you’re planning a traditional wedding, it might be fun to mix it up a little during your other wedding parties. How about a Fiesta Themed party. This would be fun as a cocktail engagement party or as part of a happy hour for one of your weekend wedding shingdigs. If you’re trying to keep a bunch of kids entertained while the adults visit - what better than to have a fiesta with a pinata!

It doesn’t have to be expensive either. Serve margaritas (frozen ones are fun), chips and salsa. Set up a mexican bar with a variety of taco shells, flour tortillas and toppings so guests can make their own burritos, tacos or fajitas. Here’s what I would have on my mexican bar: Ground beef, sauteed chicken strips, green peppers, onions, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheeses (mix ‘em up!), shredded lettuce, sour cream, salsa, spanish rice, refried beans, guacamole, flour tortillas, corn tortillas. Consider tortilla bowls for taco salads!

Wedding Diets

I don’t know of any brides that weren’t trying to drop a couple (or few more) pounds in time for your wedding. With so many diet fads and trends out there, along with all the dietary supplements available, it’s hard to know which diet is going to work for you. The most important thing I want to advise you is to consult with your primary care doctor FIRST. Let her know what you want to do and ask her advice on how to best go about reaching your weight loss goals.

I will be the first to admit it - traditional diet and exercise is hard. And sometimes you feel like you need a little boost or other type of support. I know - I’ve tried at least three different ones. Each had their own advantages (I lost weight) - but I couldn’t seem to get past the plataeu and then eventually attain my goal weight and stay there.

I’ll be taking a look at alot of the diets that are available and even take a stab at some myself. I’ll let you know how they go. A Bridal Tea

Are you the Maid of Honor trying to plan the bridal shower for your bride? Or better yet - a Bride looking for a fun idea for a bridesmaid luncheon? Consider a bridal tea. Make it a fun day and invite guests to wear elegant gloves and fancy hats for the occasion. Depending on the number of guests, purchase a few teapots. They don’t have to match - in fact, we think if they mismatch its even better. Look in local thrift stores for mismatched tea cups and saucers to save some money and add to the variety. Often times nice ones are donated because there isn’t a full set. You can always let guests take home the set as a gift.

Who throws the Bridal Shower?

This is a question we get asked alot. Typically, the bridal shower is thrown by the Maid/Matron of Honor but has also included the help of the bridesmaids to help with the costs. Traditionally, family members do not throw the bridal shower, but times have certainly changed, especially since many of the bridal attendants are related. Sometimes office workers will throw their own shower for the bride to be able to congratulate and celebrate with her especially if they know in advance that the guest list will be comprised of a small group of family and friends. What you need to remember is that typically those that are invited to the shower should also be on the wedding guest list.
